Апстракт:
There are different types of adhesives which could be applied during orthodontic therapy with fixed orthodontic appliances. Composite materials are most commonly used for bonding brackets to the teeth. This study evaluated adhesive remnant index (ARI) of two types of orthodontic adhesive systems (Heliosit orthodontics and Aspire orthodontic system) for bonding brackets to teeth. 42 еxtracted human upper premolars were randomly divided into 2 groups (21 each group). Metal brackets were bonded to the tooth specimens in each group with their respective adhesive according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The teeth were debonded after 48 hours with orthodontic removing pliers. The adhesive remnant was evaluated after debonding under the light stereomicroscope (10 X magnification) using ARI index (4-point scale described by Arthun and Bergland). Statistical analysis showed that there were no statistically significant difference in the amount of adhesive remnant between the groups with different types of orthodontic adhesive.
